So, to all of you who were waiting for it impatiently, the apple tablet is finally out. Honestly, it looks a lot like the "Big Brother of the iPhone" but seems to be truly enjoyable.

Pineapple Caramel Slice & Pineapple Sauce
Aloha nui loa, everyone!
Yesterday i had way too much confidence and I said, who can't do a pineapple souffle from scratch?! I found out that at least I couldn't :P
But i will share a very nice recipe i came across while experimenting :) I decided I'll call it "pineapple caramel slice" and to prove how good it was to you i will only say this much: it was gone in not more than 1 hour... using only two eaters ... and i promise, the only reason i didn't make one more on the spot, was the lack of another can of pineapple. And as i already told you: in Germany there is a general censoring hour for shopping, the we crossed when we cut the cake...
Oh well, back to the real stuff ;) Have fun with the recipe and don't forget: just have fun there, don't worry about it. And if it doesn't end up the way you wanted it, just call it something else ;)
Beat 2 whole eggs and 4 table spoons of sugar until fluffy. open a middle sized of canned pineapple chunks. Drain the pineapple but keep the juice!!! after the chunks are dry-ish, mash up 10-12 ladyfingers and mix the two things together. Then add a couple of spoons of the egg-foam onto the pineapple, mix it well and when done, pour it over the rest of the eggs. mix gently, but incorporate well. Grease a 26" pan and pour the batter in it. Place in a 150 degree C oven and cook for about 15 minutes, then lower the heat to about 70 degrees and cook until slightly dark brown on top. The cake is done ;)
Sauce:
Put the pineapple juice in a pan, and add water to it (1 to 1 measurement). Bring it to a boil. In the meanwhile mix one tablespoon of vanilla pudding powder with a couple of drops of vanilla essence and some lemon zest. Gradually add about 5-8 tablespoons of cold-ish water to it and mix until well blended together. Add to the boiling juice-water mix, and bring it to a boil. Be careful: when boiling a foam might form, that will want to come out of your pan at any cost. But don't get scared: lower the heat, and stir, then when everything is relaxed again, raise the heat and so on... Do this thing (as in boiling and stirring the sauce) for about 5-7 minutes. Even though it will get 100% transparent at a point (or at least it did for me) don't worry if while cooling down it will become opaque.
We ate it with whipped cream and the sauce was still lukewarm when we served it.
I promis you will love it. One more advice: the slices you cut should not be much wider than the spatula you are going to "scoop" them out with. Otherwise, since the dough is so fragile, it fall apart, and will affect the overall outlook of your serving. But you can always cut two slices, and put them slightly on top of each other. Then comes the whipped cream, and then, the pineapple sauce (DROOOOOOOL!!!)
Well, see you next time!!

Hamburger week...
Yup, that's true: this week is hamburger week... at least for us it is, apparently. Which means that by sunday i will hate every kind of food that involves two outer layers of any kind of bread...
In any case... If you are reading my blog, which i believe you are, of course, then you might remember that i promised to give out my super-duper-secret ready-made burger tune-up recipe! So, today is your lucky day: i am going to share my secret with you. A secret that we kept in out family for centuries and even more! Naaah! Just kidding: i came up with it a couple of days ago, when both my boyfriend and I felt like home-made hamburgers but we only had ready made ones (and in Germany everything closes after 9 at most!!! which was our case, obviously).
So, I took over the kitchen, and while he was making an atmosphere in the dining room, i used my level best to indulge him with something magical... I mean food!!! :P
SO, here we go... Have fun, enjoy cooking it, and don't forget: if something doesn't exactly goes as planned, improvise! and use the "I thought i'd make it like this today" phrase :D

Cut up a couple of slices of bacon into about 1/2 inch wide slices. No oil added, put them in a pan, and fry them until nice brown on the edges (at least) and crunchy to touch with the spatula (spoon, fork, or whatever it is that you are using).
When done, press the bacons (5-8 at a time, or however many you can) to squeeze out the excess of oil (don't worry: we will not throw it away :P). You might want to place them on a paper towel to get rid of the leftover oil. I promise, you will not miss it ;)
Get your burger into the pan (yes, the one you still have the leftover bacon-grease in) and let it warm up nicely on both sides. Then take a couple of slices of cheese (this time i used Gouda and i loved it!!) put them on the burger, cover the pan with a lid, and on low heat let them cook together until the cheese starts melting around. Then you can finally remove it from the pan.
Take your bun's bottom slice, and place it (bottom down) in the pan. fry it until it gets slightly toasted, then put some butter on top (try dividing it equally on the whole surface) and flip the slice of bun. Let it toast on this side as well. Then remove and do the same trick with the top half of the bun as well, but this time you should place it top-down first. ;)
Now, the assembly: put the fried bacons on the bottom half of the bun, place a slice of cheese on top (yeah, we are evil and hiding it from all those non-believers, who are so afraid of it...). Then put the bun on it (with the cheesy side up). Then a slice of onion and some lettuce. And of course, the top half of bun couldn't miss either, so finish it up with that. I served it with a couple of pickles, and it was delicious...
Now, of course, you can spice this up however you want. Mustard, mayo, whatever :) You can actually use this "algorithm" when making 100% homemade hamburgers...
Well, till next time!

Butter Buns
So... I love hamburgers :D I think, in a way or another all of us do... But in this world of fast changes and too little time for too many things, sometimes buying a readymade burger, that will last for weeks in your fridge is the most convenient thing to do. Of course, it will never taste as one made on a real grill, from meat you prepared, but it'll do the job, I promise. Especially if you know what I know about making a ready-made burger become juicy and flavory!!! But that will come in another post :P
What I want to talk about is chocolate buns: the fluffy little, sweet buns with chocolate pieces in it. We are living just a couple of houses from a grocery store which used to have these amazing chocolate buns. Just perfect: not too sweet, not too salty, not too artificial, and with just enough chocolate in it. That was before it was taken over by some other company which is also very good, I must admit, but they stopped getting this exact product.
So, I thought, why not surprise my boyfriend, and make some home-made choco buns for him? Said and done!!! :D
So, I Googeled (both Web and Videos) and I decided: if I'll ever make a baking video (or cooking) I will finish it by showing what that specific dish, desert or whatever looks like. I mean, I saw all these videos about people claiming to have the recipe for the BEST CHOCOLATE BUNS, and yet, after they baked the thing, non of them actually touched the buns to show you: "hey, I'm fluffy!" B-)
So, out of frustration, I came up with my own recipe, which now I will share with you. Unfortunately they didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted at first, but the second batch got the necessary changes, so here we go...
Warm up about 400 ml of milk. Add 60 g butter in it, stir until it melts. Transfer 70 % of the mixture into a LARGE bowl. In the rest of milk add 3 packages of dry yeast, mix well and add to the rest of the milk. Then slightly beat two medium to large eggs and add that as well. Add vanilla extract. Mix.
Gradually add about 2 cups of flour into the milk while mixing it with an electric mixer until such time the dough seems to be a fine, smooth mixture, and all the yeast becomes absolutely invisible to your eyes. When the dough starts to get too thick, stop the mixer.
Pour about 1.5 cup flour onto the dough. Lightly pulling, with the tips of your fingers, start wrapping the dough around the flour. When it gets too sticky, add more flour. You will use up approximately 800 g overall.
When the dough becomes only slightly sticky, stop adding more flour, and let set for a couple of seconds. If the dough will not stick to your hands, you are done, even if it is not of a hard consistency.
Now add the chocolate. I used a big Hershey's chocolate bar. I broke it into the predefined squares, then i smashed them with a hammer-like object until they became small enough for my taste.
Work more with the dough, until such time most of the chocolate sticks to the inside of the dough.
Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen cloth, and let it sit in a warm place for about 1 hour or until becomes double the initial size. Do not put it on or in the near proximity of a heater / radiator, since that will melt the chocolate bits, and the dough might look goofy afterwards.
Now I don't know why, but everyone says that before you should extract your buns, you are supposed to push out all the air in the dough by punching it, and slightly working it again.
Then you start pulling out chunks of dough, as big as a tennis ball. Place them in a non-stick pan (or use backing paper beneath) about 1 inch apart from each other. Let raise for about 30 minutes then bake them in a pre-heated oven (about 150), until light brown in color.
Before putting them in the over I wiped them with melted butter mixed with sugar and vanilla extract. Then, when they are almost done, take them out of the oven, and wipe them with warm milk, then put them back for a couple of minutes more in the oven...
They will be ... absolutely delicious!!!
Hope you'll enjoy this recipe. I sure did.
I case you'll have some leftovers, you can still eat them. Either put them in the microwave to heat them up and get them fluffy again (not more than 10 seconds!!!) or slice them, and spread chocolate cream (like Nutella) on top and voila! Superb breakfast!
See you soon!

Living the 1001 Nights
I am living a fairytale. In the world of colors and smiles, kindness and overwhelming happiness I am living a dream of any ordinary girl: being in love with the prince of my heart, in the kingdom of wherever...
Right now it is warm and I can feel drops of sweat rolling down on my back, like little children on snow covered hills of my home country, Romania. And for those who are not quite sure about it, yes, Bucharest IS the capital of this fish-shaped country, lying on its belly. As an ovule in the uterus: ever growing, but never in this millennium turning into something worth talking about. Those of you who might be surprised by the above information, I must confess that several times in my life I met people mixing up Bucharest with Budapest, which for us is like mixing up Paris with London.... And I will tell you why.

Basic cake
Hey ya'all!!!
Those of you who have access to Hulu, can watch "Paula's Home Cooking". She makes lots and lots of delicious things, from luxurious apple pie, to simple butter cookies. The only problem i find with that is that... she sometimes uses way too many ready made ingredients (like pie crusts) that are not available all over the world. And that makes you feel frustrated...
Anyhows...
I love cooking... but even more, baking. When you're in the kitchen and your cake starts getting a shape, the smell of vanilla, chocolate, strawberries or whatever it is in that particular desert, fills the house. And there is no other AirWick trick that could make any house smell nicer (even though wherever i have room refreshers, i always use AirWick... to me, they are the best!!!)
So, i have a basic cake recipe that i love to use. It is very easy and quick to make and can be used as chocolate cake, pineapple cake or anything-else-you-have-in-mind-cake (i even tried it for muffin once, and it turned out to be... GOOD!!!).
Since i travel from time to time, i cannot carry my recipe book with me everywhere (even though i would love to!!! but since check in luggage is so limited, or inexistent sometimes... oh well...) i thought i would upload it on my blog. Share it with the whole world and have it handy whenever i need it :)
So, the name of this dough in my book is "Water cake".
IMPORTANT NOTE: the following recipe is for one person portion!!! So a real cake dough would need 4 of these (ex: 4 eggs, 250g sugar, ....) (will make a26 cm diameter cake)
The list of ingredients is as follows:
1 egg
50 g sugar
40 g flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 table spoon ice cold water
How to...:
Separate the egg white from the yolk. Beat the egg white. Then beat the yolk with the sugar (TIP: you can use the same blades in case you are working with an electric mixer...) until slightly changes color. Add the water and incorporate it. Add flour with baking powder, and as needed add the beaten egg white, to keep the mixture slightly liquidish. Then, carefully, add the leftover of beaten egg whites.
And there you go, it's ready!!!
Now you can pour it in a cake-pan an bake it on 150-ish for about 15 minutes, i think, but i never measured, honestly... basically, when you start smelling it in the kitchen, it is about to get right. Before taking it out however, do the toothpick test ;)
Well, enjoy! I know i surely will :D

Aishwarya & Abhsishek on Oprah
Hey everybody!
So, let's start with the beginning: I LOVE Bollywood movies!! well, naturally, not all of them, but i do enjoy those 4 hour long works of art, that are basically a very colorful musical, according to the western definition.
I started watching them about 2 years ago. I searched online for hindi movies, and since i had no connection with that world at that time, i watched the first that, according to the Google search results, was most searched for, or most easily findable :">
So, i started with Devdas. In case there is anyone that loves true love stories, with the ever burning fire of love, i recommend this to you! But please, keep a box of cleanex next to you...
So, after such a "hard core" movie, next day i watched Bunty aur Babli. A lovely little movie, very light, very colorful. Loved the soundtrack!!!
And i went on watching more and more movies, and i found that i already had "favorite" actors and actresses. Obviously...
So, one of my favorite actresses is Aishwarya Ray, who got the fame for the first time when, i believe in 1994, she became Miss World... Just look her up, even Wikipedia gives (as usually) a good description about her.
In any case...
I knew that she and her husband appeared on Oprah last year (2009) but i was unable to find that particular episode of the show. But then, yesterday, i got lucky!!! There is a YouTube user who uploaded it, and can be watched in the following link:
Of course, once you get there, you will see that this video has two more parts, out of with you can find more interview witht he Bachchans in the second one.
Well, i hope you will all enjoy.
Take care, see you all soon :)
